Opening Prayer for Sacred Space – The Elements

Creator, Great Spirit, Sacred Mystery — we welcome You here.
With humble hearts and open hands, we gather in this circle of life.
We come to honor the Elements, to remember we are woven of Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.
We come to honor the sacred directions, the Spirit Beings,
the Animals, the Ancestors, and the guiding forces of Nature.
We open this space in love, in truth, and in reverence.

East - Spirit of Air

We turn to the East, the place of the rising Sun,
where the morning light blesses the land with new life.
Spirit of Air, we call to you —
Breath of our first cry, breath of our prayers, breath of the winds that carry seeds across the Earth.
We welcome the Eagle, who soars beyond sight,
Lend us your vision, sharpen our awareness,
Lift our minds to see clearly the path before us.

South - Spirit of Fire

We turn to the South, the place of warmth and fire,
where passion, growth, and the fullness of summer dwell.
Spirit of Fire, we call to you —
Flame of the heart, spark of transformation,
Burn bright within us, burning away all that is heavy and untrue.
We welcome the Coyote, who teaches with laughter and trickster ways,
and the Deer, who teaches tenderness and grace.
Show us how to walk in balance between joy and gentleness.

West - Spirit of Water

We turn to the West, the place of the setting Sun,
where shadows lengthen and waters flow into mystery.
Spirit of Water, we call to you —
Sacred rivers, tides of the ocean, the tears that cleanse, the womb that holds life.
We welcome the Bear, keeper of the dream lodge,
Guide us inward to healing,
Teach us to surrender, to trust the flow, to dream our soul's vision alive.

North - Spirit of Earth

We turn to the North, the place of wisdom and stone,
where the elders sit, where winter teaches patience and strength.
Spirit of Earth, we call to you —
Soil beneath our feet, body of the Mother,
Give us grounding, endurance, and the sacred knowing of all that is eternal.
We welcome the Buffalo, teacher of gratitude and abundance,
Remind us that all life is gift, and every gift is sacred.

Sky and Earth

Above us, Father Sky, infinite stars and guiding light,
Shine your wisdom upon us, illuminate our way.
Below us, Mother Earth, cradle of all that lives,
We place our bodies upon you with reverence,
We root into your strength, and we honor the sacred ground that holds us.

Spirit Beings and Guides

We call upon the Nature Spirits of this place —
the waters that surround us, the trees that breathe with us,
the winds that speak through the grasses, the stones that remember the beginning.
Walk beside us now as kin, as teachers, as allies.

We call upon our Spirit Animals and Guides,
Those who walk with us in dreams and silence,
Those who whisper in our hearts and lead us toward truth.

We call upon our Ancestors of Light,
those who lived with integrity, who carried wisdom forward,
who walk now in high vibration, blessing the generations to come.
Stand with us in this circle,
Protect this space, guide our steps,
Fill us with courage, wisdom, and compassion.

Closing

And so we weave all these forces together —
East, South, West, and North.
Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.
Spirit above and Spirit below.
Guides, Animals, Ancestors, and Nature.
All in harmony, all in sacred relation.

May this retreat be blessed.
May this circle be holy.
May all beings who enter here feel the presence of Spirit,
the power of the Elements, and the love of Creation.
